LAGOS— Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences, yesterday, impounded a Police-registered bullion van with cash and arrested the driver for violating the state road traffic law, 2012.

The driver of the van with plate number PF 4582 SPY, Mr. Joseph Edo, 50, has been charged to the Special Offences court, Alausa.

Edo, in an interview with Vanguard, said: “When I left a commercial bank (name withheld) at Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, I drove towards my normal route. But immediately I heard a gunshot, I had no option than to drive against the traffic. This was based on my experience last year when one of our officers was killed in a gun battle with armed robbers.

“At that time I was apprehended, I didn’t know if I was the only driver who heard the shot and drove against the traffic. The bullion Van was loaded with cash.”
