Harambee Stars beg for funds to ‘beat’ Eagles

Football Kenya Federation has made a passionate appeal to prospective sponsors, the government and well wishers to step in and assist the national team Harambee Stars financially as they get set to ‘beat’ Nigeria in the return leg of the World Cup Qualifier in Kasarani on June 5.

In a statement signed by FKF Chairman, Sam Nyamweya,  “the Federation needs at least N18.8 m (KSh.10 million) for the match against Nigeria, with the bulk of the funds being used for the purchase of air tickets for foreign-based players, accommodating the visiting team, player’s allowances, and payments of match officials.”

But the federation needs more than that to prosecute the entire annual programme which include a two week long COSAFA Cup in Zambia as well as participating in this year’s CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup. The statement said the federation needs 200 Million shillings to facilitate all matches for the national team this year.

Nyamweya also said that the Harambee Stars will play two friendly matches in the FIFA calendar.
