Nigeria’s Got Talent gets hotter

By Esther Onyegbula

The heat is on as the first set of the 50 contestants who made it to the semi-final in the on-going Nigeria’s got talent raise bar, in a conscious attempt to emerge winner of the competition.

Some of the first set of semi finalist contestants who performed their act includes: the Pulse, Climax, DNA, Adult babies, Vic Mac and others.

The show began with an Acapela performance by the group called Pulse, consisting of five young guys from the oil rich city of Port Harcourt; their performance was followed closely with the energetic act by Climax (a group of two young girls) who danced a blend of different music to the admiration of guests and judges.

Then, came the musical feat and wonderful dance steps of John Uket who sang Jodie – Kuchi Kuchi (Oh Baby). Though he gave a good account of himself, he was advised by the judges to make good use of  the stage as a performer, if he eventually gets to the next round.

Ever heard of the saying that good things come in small packages? This typifies one of the contestants, 15 year old Vic Mac, who serenaded the audience and judges with a recital of the national item, which she sang with so much finesse, giving it an interesting new flavor and meaning; her act earned her great commendation from all three judges.

Emerging from the ancient city of Benin City, DNA a group of seven young lads hit the stage with high speed, vibrant choreography that took the show tempo to an entirely new level with the audience asking for more.

After the feat of Mr. Ezedi from Abuja, who plays saxophone with his hands, came Dr Bariyu Yesufu the ventriloquists and his dog did a creative presentation that earned him commendation. Wearing Halloween- like costumes, adult babies also got on stage and did their beat which the judges felt wasn’t audible enough.

The high light of the different talent display was that of Kid artiste Olayemi John Pelumi, with an overwhelming swag. He exceptionally wowed the judges and the audience with his self confidence while performing one of Nigeria’s all time hit rap songs ‘The resurrection’.
