Determined to bridge the digital and language gap in the Nigerian telecom industry, InternetSpeech Inc  and Adamu  Consulting in collaboration with ICT University of Baton Rouge, Lousiana last week introduced an audio/voice internet phone technology into Nigeria.

Unveiling the technology, Dr. Emdad Khan of InternetSpeech Inc said the technology involves  deploying  the voice internet technology and service infrastructure to Nigerian consumers, businesses and governments.

On how the web browser phone works, he said ‘‘access is provided via any phone to information on any website, whether or not that site has been voice-enabled.’’

According to him, InternetSpeech uses an intelligent agent that performs key tasks which include automating communication between a telephone and the internet and thereby extracting key information from a web page.

Also speaking, the Managing Director of Adamu Consulting,  Dr. Harouna Adamu described the innovation as a mile stone that will effectively bridge the digital and language divides in Nigeria.

‘’The company focuses in three rapidly growing broadband segments, consumers, businesses and governments. Our strategy is to remain the leader in this rapidly growing voice internet market, provide voice internet infrastructure technology and deploy the technology through channel partners,’’ he added.

The patent Voice Internet technology uses an Intelligent Agent, that performs the task of automating communication between a telephone and the Internet, extracts key information from a web page and excludes non-essential information, interprets the contents of a web page and renders visual website contents to very user friendly, concise, easily navigable and meaningful audio contents.
