Group C could be slippery, Erico warns Eagles

Former Super Eagles assistant coach, Joe Erico declared that Nigerians would be making a mistake, if they think the Eagles will have an easy ride in the group C pairing of the 2013 Africa Nations Cup.

Erico, a former national team goalkeeper who along side Stephen Keshi were assistants to Shaibu Amodu at the Mali 2002 Nations Cup stated that the Eagles will not find it easy with the perceived weaker teams such as Burkina Faso and most especially Ethiopia.

Nigeria was lumped in group C, which has defending champions, Zambia, Burkina Faso and Ethiopia.

This was against predictions that the Eagles will get tougher opponents such as Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire in the preliminary rounds, but Erico a veteran coach warns that that group C is just as slippery as the  pronounced group of death featuring Cote d’Ivoire, Togo, Tunisia and Algeria.

“There are no minnows again in football, especially in Africa,” sighed Erico. He urged the Eagles to give equal attention to all the teams in the group.

“So as much as the Eagles will prepare well to face Burkina Faso and Zambia, I want the team to prepare well against Ethiopia and the coaching crew must make sure that they are psychologically ready.”
