We still have something to play for – Ofuegbu

Captain of the female U-20 team, Falconets Gloria Ofoegbu says the team have not given up on the competition despite their defeat in the semi final by the USA.

Ofuegbu said playing Japan in the third place match is another opportunity for them to prove their worth in the world of football.

In a chat with Saturday Vanguard sports in Japan, Ofoegbu said , “ I believe we all have learned our lessons from the defeat to the USA. We have taken some positives from the encounter rather than sulking and wallowing in self-pity.

What we can take from this tournament first and foremost, especially against Japan, is the fact that we have to treat each attack like it’s the only chance we’re going to get in the match.

“We will have to make do with the third place match which has provided us with an opportunity to finish on the podium. Third place wouldn’t be that bad at the end of the day,”said the River Angels player.
