Kano Pillars’ duo, Victor Namo and Ali Rabiu believe that club is on target to achieve a double this season. Pillars face Lobi Stars in today’s Federation Cup semi-final in Calabar and according to the players, the Makurdi side does not pose a threat to their ambition. Pillars currently top Premier League with 64 points.

Namo said: “We are still in both competitions to win them. In football anything is possible and we will work very hard to make sure that we realise our dream of winning the FA Cup and the league.

“Other clubs too want to win it (the Federation Cup). Lobi have done well too this season and we expect a tough game from them in the semifinals (of the Federation Cup). They are also in the title race for the league like us and it’s going to be tough.”

Attacking midfielder Rabiu acknowledged that Lobi Stars will be strong as usual but is keen to see his side reach only their second final of the Cup competition.

“Lobi are very good. I’m not surprised by their performance and that’s why we can’t just overlook them. It will be a difficult game for us but we want to win it.

“Our ambition now is to win the FA Cup and the league. We have a very good chance,” said Rabiu

Meanwhile  Pillars’ manager, Mohammed Baba Ganaru has said top striker, Gambo Mohammed will be sorely missed in the semifinals clash.

“We’ll definitely miss him (Gambo) against Lobi Stars.

“He’s a workaholic and our backbone, though I’ve good replacement but if I said I won’t miss him then I must be lying. “His dream is for us to win and head to the final to clinch the title. “That’s what we’ll do on Wednesday, beat Lobi silly, progress to the final and win the title. “Anything short of the Cup title will be a failure on our part and that won’t be acceptable.

“Our ambition for a double is still on the top banner, we’re on top of the league with a match to go and we’re playing in the Cup semifinals.”
