THE immediate past Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has been described as a worthy ambass2ador who cherished the mentored leadership of the Late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

Otunba Daniel received the accolades from one of the apostles of the elderstateman, Chief Rasheed Adewale Shitta-Bey on the occasion of his 56th birthday in Shagamu, Ogun State.

Chief Shitta-Bey said: ‘’Otunba Gbenga Daniel has demonstrated and exhibited the good qualities that are embedded in him. Not only that he has shown the world the worthy background he possessed, which has always been in line with beliefs of the Late Sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

Chief Shitta-Bey who is also the National Chairman of the Mega Progressive Peoples Party, MPPP, on behalf of his family eulogised the sterling qualities of Otunba Daniel and said the occasion had served as a rallying point for the settlement of political differences among Yoruba stalwarts and factional  groups.

Chief Shitta-Bey encouraged Otunba Gbenga Daniel to create an avenue to restore the unity, influence and the rightful position of Afenifere in Yorubaland, in view of the need for the Yorubas to regain what have been lost in the region through the achievement of the late Sage, Chief Awolowo during Western Region Administration.

According to Shitta-Bey, the coming together of true Awolowo loyalists will ensure the success of 2015 general elections with Afenifere coming to the mainstream of governance in the South-West, just as it was in 1999, when the Alliance For Democracy, AD, won elections in the South-West, through the influence and dominance of Afenifere-the Yoruba socio-cultural Organisation.
