By IFEANYI OKOLIE
LAGOS—The police in Lagos State, yesterday, said they had transferred the middle-aged man, Henry Nnamdi, accused of killing his one year old son and brutalising his wife, on Easter Sunday, to the Homicide unit of the State Criminal Investigations Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos.

Sources told Vanguard that the suspect, who was earlier detained at Ago-Okota Police Station after his arrest, arrived SCID in a police marked van, handcuffed. He was  moved to the office of the officer-in-charge of the homicide unit, where he was debriefed and taken into a cell.

The spokesman of the Command, Mr Joseph Jaiyeoba, who spoke to Vanguard on the development, said the suspect will be charge with murder and attempted murder.

Jayeoba said detectives from the homicide unit, would revisit the scene of the crime and speak with eyewitnesses during their cause of investigations before charging the case to court.

He explained that the police were not ruling out the possibility that the suspect could be in a demented state when he alllegedly perpetuated the heinous act, adding that psychiatrics would be brought in to evaluate him.

Meanwhile, wife of the suspect, simply identified as Mrs. Nnamdi, is now lying unconscious at a private hospital in Ago-Okota after the husband allegedly tied her to a chair and used hot pressing iron to inflict wounds all over her body, including her private part over allegation that she was sleeping with his father.
