As Super Eagles get set to battle the Amavubi of Rwanda in Kigali, ex-international, Etim Esin  has charged the home-based players to prove their worth in today’s tie.

The former Eagles midfielder believes  the time has come for the home Eagles, to exhibit their skills and therefore, utilize the opportunity given  them by Stephen Keshi.

Speaking with  Sports Vanguard  Etim advised that Keshi should field more of the home-based and combine them with few foreign based players.

According to him,“the home-based have a chance to prove themselves better under Keshi. The last Nations Cup should serve as  an eye opener, and also  a lesson for them. In this regard, I think  Keshi should be able to parade more of the  local players than the foreign players.”

Continuing he said, “though they have done credibly well in the past friendly matches, Wednesday’s tie will serve as an acid test for both the players and the coach . And the result they gets will go a long way. It is also the  time Keshi  needs to put back smiles on the faces of Nigerians especially  soccer fans.

“Also,  he  must have learnt from the last  AFCON experience,  that the only way out is to continue to give the local players the desired encouragement and confidence they need.

I still remember vividly back in our days, Westerof dropped some of us who were based abroad for the home-based at the end they did well in the match  .

“The Zambians are clear picture of a good home made team . So this is the time for the home-based to prove themselves. And with  determination,  they could be profitable for Keshi.,” Etim said.

On the hash weather condition  in Kigali Esin said: “We would have gotten there early to  acclimatise. Really, it is going to be a big test for him to get results from there. If we loose it, there will  be trouble  for him, so this is the time we need to support him,” he stressed.
