LAGOS – THE Seriki Hausawa of Lagos State, Alhaji Aminu Yaro, has urged Nigerians to work for things that would guarantee the permanent unity of the country, warning that “disintegration will do none of us any good.”
Yaro, who is also chairman, Arewa Traditional Council in the state, argued that “those clamouring for disintegration of Nigeria are doing so for selfish political interests.”
He said: “If as a result of agitation for the fragmentation of this great nation, due to agitation by a few for selfish political interest, the unity of this country is impaired or damaged, I fear greatly that we shall step, not through the gates of the future into the broad prospect of prosperity which lies before us, but back into the past tribalism, religious intolerance and violence.”
