Estate Surveyors hold summit on land administration

The Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors & Valuers, NIESV Faculty of Land Administration & Information Systems and the Abuja branch of the professional body, will on Thursday, in Abuja, host a one–day summit and continuing development programme, CPD.

The event will centre on land administration and management: the FCT experience.

The organisers said the event is aimed at creating necessary awareness among key stakeholders in the FCT built environment, on the structure of, and practical experience, on issues of land administration and management, including development control, urban economic challenges and land titling and registration.

In addition, the summit will provide the needed platform for the FCT administration and regulators to articulate, sensitise and educate stakeholders on their efforts to entrench robust land administration and management system in FCT.

A statement by the land professionals explained that the summit will also focus on legal, administrative and development control structures of FCT land administration and management, with a view to coming up with specific areas and issues requiring stakeholders attention, support and action, in achieving an efficient and transparent land administration and management in the FCT. FCT Minister, Senator Bala Muhammed is expected to be the special guest of honour while NIESV President will chair th session.

Similarly, the, Director, Department of Development Control, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, Mallam Yahaya Yusuf will deliver the lead paper on “development control strategies and enforcement in FCT, while Mr. Victor Alonge, Chairman, NIESV Faculty of Land Administration & Information System, will speak on “urban economic realities and the challenges of Master plan implementation.

Participants at the ‘summit’ are expected to include estate surveyors and valuers, planners, builders, architects, both in private practice and in public service. Others include property developers and individual and institutional investors.
