De Renaissance driving hotel re-birth in Ikeja

There was a time when Ikeja was the first destination of choice for hospitality investment in Lagos state. This informed the location of some of the best hotels in Ikeja then before the movement to the Island began.

In a chat with the Vanguard recently, the Operations Manager, Suresh Kumar, disclosed that the hotel is a full service hotel with 57 rooms.

Right from the entrance to the large expanse of land housing the hotel, guests and customers will be enthralled by the beauty of the hotel. The sheer beauty of the structure is amazing.

Moving into the reception, one is struck by the space where the front officers are on hand to receive guests with disarming smiles.

The reception is tastefully furnished with eyes appealing furniture complemented by well-designed tiles, window blinds and art work that tell more about the taste of the owner.

To add value to the size of the reception, guests who are waiting to be checked into their rooms or those having a drink at any of the bars, have the opportunity of watching good programming from large screens placed strategically.

Within the reception area is the restaurant and one of the two bars.” We have two bars, the main bar inside and the pool side bar.

Each of the rooms is tastefully fitted and furnished with the state-of the-art facilities for the comfort of guests. Suresh Kumar explained that huge investment was made on keeping the rooms as the signature element of the hotel is because of the need to provide first class accommodation. He added “Our 57 rooms are equipped with first class and latest home technologies, even equipped with wireless internet access.”

For conferences, Kumer disclosed that the hotel being located to the state secretariat has the best in terms of conference facilities with halls that can seat over 500 guests and other smaller meeting rooms. “We have different conference facilities such as projectors, screen and marker boards among others.”

De Renaissance Hotel’s restaurants offer the best in local and international cuisines with a special treat on Sundays, the Chinese Buffet.

Kumar said “We offer Chinese Buffet every Sunday for our customers aside from the 24 hour room services for the guests. To make sure the guests are not bored, they are regularly entertained.”

For recreation, there is a state of the art gym with a swimming pool close by for the guests who want to work out. The large size swimming pool beckons swimmers and leisure seekers especially weekends.



And to maintain the standard it has set for itself since opening two years ago, Kumar disclosed that training and re-training has become the hallmark of the management team, “we have continued to train the people that are working with us to make sure that we maintain the entire standard continuously.

He added that making the staff happy is one other way of making their customers and guests happy, “so the people who are working with us, we are going to make sure that they stay happy.”
