Commissioner sets Premier League target for Omokaro

Edo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Iziegbe Anita Evbuomwan has mandated the newly appointed Chief Coach of Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin, Bright Omokaro to revive the team and lead them back to the Premiership.

Speaking at the unveiling of Mr. Omokaro, as the new Chief Coach of Bendel Insurance in Benin City, Evbuomwan noted that the present state of the team has remained a source of worry to the soccer loving people of Edo state, stressing that the team need to return to its glorious position as the flagship of Nigeria Football.

According to the Commissioner, “neither the Ministry nor the Management Committee will interfere in the technicalities of Bright Omokaro’s job as he is expected to use his professional expertise to build a formidable team that will make Edo people proud again”.

“The government of Adams Oshiomhole does not engage in illegalities, neither do we believe in bribe taking as such, Coach Omokaro should ensure that all such practices are completely discouraged. He must ensure that only the best players are recruited for the team, and the terms of contract must be adhered to”, she warned.

While commending the Management Committee of Bendel Insurance for shelving their personal interests for the growth of the Club, the Commissioner stated that the screening process that saw Mr. Omokaro as eventual Chief Coach was transparent and devoid of bias and sentiments.

Also speaking, the Functional Chairman, Bendel Insurance Football Club, Mr. Elbert Ode appealed to all football fans to give the new Coach the necessary support to revive Insurance, disclosing that the former Coaches will be retained as assistants and they must take instructions from the Chief Coach only.

Mr. Ode said that the uniqueness of Bendel Insurance lies with its traditional undertone, stressing that Omokaro has the major task of moving the Club forward, as both the Government and Management will not condone inefficiency.

In his remarks, Omokaro expressed his unreserved joy for the opportunity given him to redeem Bendel Insurance, noting that as an ex-player of the club, he is very passionate about bringing the team back to its glory days.

Commending Governor Adams Oshiomhole for his positive drive to the revival of sports in Edo State, Omokaro said that the Comrade Governor is the first to appoint an ex-Super Eagles Coach to head Grassroots Football Development Programme, adding that he remains a product of grassroots football.
