ICAN President restates commitment to educational development

The 47th President of the Institute of Chartered accountants of Nigeria, Professor Francis Ojaide, has promised to build a library for his alma mater, the famous Zik Academy, in Sapele, Delta State.

The ICAN President gave the promise in Sapele on Monday during his visit to the school as part of his itinerary for district tour of Warri District & Society of ICAN.

According to him, he would carry out the project along with other notable old boys of the school who are making waves in their individual chosen careers.

During his inspection of the school, Ojaide lamented that the school has lost its glory due to negligence of successive governments in the state.

According to him, Zik Academy was one of the best secondary schools in the old mid-western region and a factor to be reckoned with as far as secondary education was concerned in the 50s, 60s and 70s.

“I wonder what has happened to my Zik Academy. This is a school that has produced the high and mighty in all walks of life. As we were coming into the premises, my colleagues who are also products of this school could not also believe what they saw. All of us discovered that the school is fast losing its glory, due to deterioration of its facilities. Something should be done fast to rescue the school,” he stated.

He charged the school authority to invite a contractor to do the costing of the project, which should be made available to him within the shortest possible time for action.
