ABOUT 80 electrification projects have been executed by the Ondo State government in the last two years.
The chairman of the State Electricity Board (OSEB), Engr. Sola Akinsanmi, added that about 50 of the projects have been completed and would soon be commissioned.
Akinsanmi pointed out that work is at advanced stage on the rest.
“OSEB had provided light for many communities through rural electrification projects, purchase and installation of transformers and street light maintenance as well as restored electricity supply destroyed by rain storm in the Akure metropolis,”he said.
According to him, the state government is working in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Power and Steel to complete the first phase of 98 electrification projects abandoned by the Federal Government in the state.
He expressed concern over the alarming rate of vandalisation of transformers in the state and asked the Federal Government to ban the exportation of copper to stem the tide.
He urged the people to always protect electrical installations to prevent living in darkness and a waste of government money on them occasioned by acts of sabotage.
