Considering the high standard practice that goes on in law practice worldwide, the Nigerian young lawyers have been advised to take the profession serious and the only way to that is through hard working if they must take ownership of the profession in future when the senior ones retire.
Their attentions were drawn in Lagos at the 2nd edition of Young Lawyers Conference 2011organised by The Law Event Ltd., an independent legal organisation advocating for the uprising of young lawyers in law practice in Nigeria.
In his contribution to this year’s theme: “Learning today, taking ownership tomorrow” the chairman of the occasion said, for young lawyers to realise their achieve results they must embark on thorough training that would earn them confidence in the practice.
The Lagos State Governor represented by, ……….. added that for young lawyers to position themselves for the future they must remain focused in their practice.

He advised them to learn from the experience of the senior lawyers, be firm, industrious and show commitment for them to make a mark in the law profession.
He frowned at the attitude of young lawyers who for the pursuit of money abandon the practice and experience derived in the practice as such unwise decision would not help them become good lawyers at the end of it all.
In the same vein, Daramola, tasked them to enhance their profession for a better future practice but blamed poor remuneration in the profession as responsible for lack of commitment found rampant among the young lawyers.
Speaking from experience, Justice G.A. Oguntade (rtd.) said, the sure way for young lawyers to succeed, advance or compete anywhere in the world as far as law practice is concerned is for them to be competent, hardwork, honesty, goodluck and divine assitance. “This is so because the purview or frontiers of he legal profession today has substantially changed from what it was in my time as a rookie.
According to him, the number of lawyers practicing in the whole of Nigeria in 1966 would be no more than two thousand, today we have over fifty thousand. So the only thing that can make you outstanding in the profession is the above qualities.
