A record number of registrants was recorded as the Gulder Ultimate Search 8 rounded up on August 19, 2011.

26,004 individuals registered for a chance to participate in the TV reality show. This figure surpassed last year’s, when a total number of 20,634 people registered.

Mr. Ita Bassey, Senior Brand Manager, Gulder, described the record increase as an indication that GUSearch 8 will be highly successful.

He said: “I will describe this record number of registrations for Gulder Ultimate Search 8 as a feat. For more than 26, 000 individuals to register for a spot on this very novel reality TV show reflects the popularity of the GUS. Even more spectacular is the fact that more than 1,000 people registered with just twelve hours to the deadline.”

He re-iterated his confidence that this year’s edition of the GUS would surpass previous editions, given the increase in the number of contestants to 30. For the first time also, the show will have two anchor persons – Bob Manuel Udokwu and Darey Art Alade.

Meanwhile, all is now set for the next stage which is the regional selection of the individuals. The regional selection process will take place in Lagos, Abuja, Benin and Owerri. Successful applicants will be invited to locations in these regions, and subjected to several tests to test for physical strength, endurance, swimming ability, among other tests.
