The only member of the Action Congress of Nigerian, ACN, in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Chief Alex Irek representing Obubra 1 State Constituency has given jobs to over 40 of his constituents in fulfillment of his campaign promises to the people.

Chief Irek who is the minority leader of  the House said that before his election in April , he  promised his constituents that he would be engaging 40 youths as a way of reducing unemployment saying that as long as  they have collected over N400,000.00 , he would continue to assist them’

Apart from providing gainful employment to the people, he said, “We intend to get women to get together to see whether they could form a cooperative society so that I will build a loan base for them, instead of borrowing from shylocks who charge high interest.

“They will get the money from the cooperative society and pay a little interest. The money is theirs because whatever money I put in there, I don’t intend to get it back. It will be for them and it will help them. Doing that will help the women to expand their businesses”, he said.
