UGHELLI—NATIONAL Coordinator of the Initiative for Better Power Supply, Mr. Emmanuel Onose, has commended President Goodluck Jonathan for appointing Prof. Bart Nnaji as Minister for Power.
Onose, in a statement, Tuesday, in Ughelli, Delta State, expressed confidence in Prof. Nnaji, noting that his appointment would bring about positive change in the power sector.
He said: “We salute the courage of the President in the appointment of Prof. Nnaji in the face of criticisms that greeted his nomination.
“Prof Nnaji should see his appointment as a call to duty in the reform of the power sector. He should see himself as a servant not a master in the Power Holding Company of Nigeria.”
Advising him to pursue 50 percent salary increment for PHCN workers as a matter of priority and create a conducive atmosphere in the sector for the ongoing reform to be successful.
“He should give peace a chance by calling a meeting of the workers union with a view to finding lasting solutions to the issue of epileptic power supply in Nigeria. We see Prof Nnaji as someone with foresights and administrative ingenuity in the implementation of government policies,” he said.
