PENGASSAN vows to tackle unfair labour practices

ABUJA—NEW leaders of Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, weekend, in Abuja said they would focus in ensuring that factory/company inspectorate of the Federal Ministry of Labour function at optimal capacity to reduce cases of unsafe working environment and  unfair labour practices.

President of PENGASSAN, Comrade Babatunde Ogun, in his acceptance speech, after his re-election, said also that the new leadership would consolidate on the association’s image, integrity and credibility gained in the last three years among stakeholders and social partners.

He promised to ensure safety audit and routine visit on the refineries, jetties and pipeline network for optimal performance and improvement of job quality of  members,  and continuous close monitoring of expatriate quota and their abuses.

He said the  association would  equip its research department to serve as databank that would aid easy information gathering and dissemination, building of a befitting secretariat with library facilities in Abuja.
