Ogbemudia faults Edo PDP ministerial list

BENIN – THE Dr Samuel Ogbemudia/Admiral Mike Akhigbe-led Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State, has faulted the list of ministerial nominees sent to the Presidency, saying that  names on the list are all “cronies” of the former Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih.

The group in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Dr Francis Iyasere, said it had forwarded its own list to the Presidency, urging President Goodluck Jonathan to ensure that capable people were appointed, not “those who will only serve the interest of a few cabal.”

The statement recalled that the factional crisis of the party in the state was as a result of the alleged dictatorship tendencies of a national leader of the party and regretted that the national leadership of the party had failed to look into the problems confronting the party in the state.

According to the statement, “the usual manner of imposing strangers on the people without due consultation is what has nailed the coffin of the party in the state and we are saying that the 2012 governorship election in the state will also elude the party if it does not change its way.”
