Bafarawa asks youths to end carnage

SOKOTO -FORMER  Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, yesterday, condemned the ongoing carnage in the North as a result of the just concluded presidential election, stressing that protesters should sheathe their swords.

Bafarawa said the resort to violence was not only archaic, but dehumanizing to the people, adding that this was not the dream of Nigerian founding  fathers.

He said: “Certainly, it is not Allah’s wish that we kill, burn, and main each other anytime we have a minor disagreement. There have been reports of arson, killings and looting.

The irony which is lost on those causing this mayhem is that the people whose properties are destroyed are their kith and kin. The people killed and maimed are our brothers and sisters. This orgy of violence cannot be their legacy. The violence must stop now.”
