Jos – Two people were, Tuesday, killed and five others injured in a fresh attack on the Federal College of Land Resources, Vom Plateau State by unknown gunmen said to number over twenty.
The attack which is the second within two months was carried out about 9.00pm when the gunmen reportedly stormed the school shooting sporadically and overwhelming the four policemen posted to the school.
The policemen were sent to secure the school following the initial attack on February 11 during which five people including the chief security officer of the college, the chief accountant, his wife and daughter were killed.
It was not clear if the attackers rustled cows as they did during the first attack but it was learnt that they went round the large compound of the school as if after a particular thing before eventually fleeing after about 30 minutes.
Those killed in Tuesday’s attack were security men in the employment of the college.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Abdulrahman Akano said his men were on the trail of the attackers as full investigations had commenced.
He said the two security men of the college killed by the attackers and others injured were taken to the Vom Christian Hospital and appealed to the people to remain calm as security men strive to secure the state.
The attack has generated fresh apprehension among residents of the state as the general elections draw nearer.
