Court remands bus conductor for rape

 Jos -A 25-year-old bus conductor, Samuel John, has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly, attempting to rape a 16-year-old girl.

 John, who appeared before the Kasuwar-Nama Upper Area Court in Jos, Friday, was sent back to prison after failing to meet the conditions for the bail granted him two weeks ago.

 The presiding Judge, Malam Mustapha Hassan, who ordered that John be returned to prison, said that the court had no option but to order for his further remand.

He ordered that the accused should fulfill the bail conditions on the next adjournment date “to enjoy temporary freedom, pending the determination of the case’’.

Earlier, the Prosecuting Police Officer, Mr Gokwat Ibrahim, told the court that the police had completed investigations on the attempted rape.

He also told the court that he was ready to provide four witnesses who would testify before the court.

The accused, in pleading for the bail, prayed the court to give him more time because his master had traveled to Makurdi in Benue.
