Calabar-Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State has said that the state could not afford to be in the opposition, so as to benefit from the Federal Government.
The governor, who stated this while addressing opinion leaders from Yakuur Local Government Area of the state, during his campaign rally, noted that out of the 36 states in the country, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, controls about 27 states while the opposition political parties are sharing the remaining nine.
He said the PDP cannot afford to lose in Yakurr/Abi Federal constituency, which is his constituency, adding, “this constituency remains vital to the victory of PDP because of my involvement as the campaign co-coordinator in South South for the Goodluck/Sambo Presidential race.”
He said being a native of Abi Local Government Area and the co-coordinator of Mr. President’s campaign organisation, “it would be unfortunate for the opposition to win in my constituency.”
He, enjoined opinion leaders to mobilize their people, especially party supporters, to cast their votes during the polls for the PDP.
