Abuja – The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and other related members, NAPTIP says it has secured three new convictions against human traffickers, bringing to 104, those convicted since 2003  in the country.

In a statement signed by Mr Arinze Orakwue, Head, Communication and Media, of the organisation, Wednesday, in Abuja,  NAPTIP said; “Those convicted are Helen Afiedia, Confidence Adodo and Lucky Okunsebor who secured  sentences of five years’ imprisonment without an option of fine, 12 months’ imprisonment and a fine of N50,000 and 12 months’ imprisonment and a fine of N50,000 respectively”..

The statement also stated that the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Mr Mohammed Adoke has inaugurated the members of the NAPTIP governing board.

The minister was quoted as saying that NAPTIP had lived up to its expectation in repositioning the agency as a reference point in combating human trafficking.

Meanwhile, two new special courts have been established in Benin to try cases of human trafficking, the statement added
