LCCI boss joins World Chambers Federation

The President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, (LCCI), Otunba Olufemi Deru, has been elected into a 50-member General Council of the World Chambers Federation (WCF).

In a release by the Public Relations Manager, Mr Tope Oluwaleye, the WCF has 1,500 members from more than 125 countries worldwide and that Deru has joined the President of Casablanca Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services, Morocco as the African representatives on the Council.

“The WCF General Council is responsible for determining the policies and programmes of the WCF. It also draws its membership from representatives of transnational, national, regional, local, public and private law chambers. Each elected member will serve for a period of three years.

The election is the first ever by WCF to select General Council members. On the Council are eight representatives from the Americas, 10 from the Africa/Middle East region, 14 from Asia and 18 from Europe” he said.

The Chair of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) World Chambers Federation, Rona Yircali, in his congratulation letter, solicited for Deru’s support in representing the voice of the global chamber community within the ICC. “”I am very proud of your chamber’s support for the ICC World Chambers Federation and do look forward to strengthening further your participation, presence and profile within all our work,” Yircali stated.
