The Catholic Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace, Most Rev. Anthony Obinna, has commended Imo State governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, for the gigantic Governor’s Office his administration constructed for the state.
Bishop Obinna spoke when he accompanied the Papal Nuncio, Most Rev. Augustine Kasujja, on a courtesy call to Governor Ohakim at Government House, Owerri.
Archbishop Obinna said: “It is right to acknowledge a good thing when one sees any. The new Governor’s Office is a master piece.
“When I entered here, I was asking who designed this structure. This is a fine edifice and befits the office of a governor.”
Earlier, the Papal Nuncio, Most Rev Augustine Kasujja, commended the governor for the good work he was doing, pointing out that he was in Imo State for a church function, and felt there was no way he could visit the state without calling on the governor.
He later decorated Governor Ohakim and his wife, Mrs. Chioma Ohakim, with medals from the Catholic Pontiff, Pope Benedict XVI, as a memento for his official visit to the state.
In his response, the governor thanked the Papal Nuncio for the visit and also said he was “particularly happy with Archbishop Obinna for his support to the current administration in the state”, describing him as a father to all who speak the truth at all times.
Among those in attendance to receive the Papal Nuncio were commissioners and other members of the expanded State Executive Council, political party chieftains and other government functionaries.
