assures on tea industry’s revival

THE Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has said in Lagos that it has concluded arrangement to revive the tea industry to meet local demand.

Mrs. Omowunmi Osibo, Director, Products Development, NEPC told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the country has arable land and a conducive weather to grow tea for its economic growth.

Osibo reiterated that the Mambilla Plateau in Sardauna Local Council of Taraba State alone could grow high quality tea that could compete favourably at the international market.

She noted that the tea sector had been neglected over the years, adding that the council had started sensitising the private sector to the possibility of investing in tea production.
