Track judges were forced to postpone the women 200m final yesterday after a protest filed by Cyprus runner who was contesting the decision to disqualify her.

It was learnt that Eleni Artymata, who ran in lane number five in the semi_finals, had cut into another lane but the race officials did not see it and she was declared winner and finalists.

She was later disqualified after one of the athletes lodged an appeal. The Cypriot counter_appealed to the jury which rejected it.

Commonwealth Games Federation president Mike Fennell denied that there was chaos after the semi_final race, saying, “The teams were told about the appeal and the officials did their job. I don’t think there was shortage of any information,” he replied when a journalist said there was chaos as the New Zealand runner did not know when the final will be held.
