Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant and Kwara State governor, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has promised to tap the enormous agricultural potentials of the nation to tackle the triple problems of unemployment, hunger and poverty,as well as launching the nation on the path of agro-allied industrialization.
Saraki made the pledge during his campaign tour of Katsina State. He stated that the old ways of doing things must change if the nation is to move forward, adding that there is no alternative to Agriculture for the nation.
At this stage of our nationhood, the country,he said, needs a generational change of leadership that will ensure that the vast resources of the nation is harnessed for the growth, stability and prosperity of the nation and the citizenry.
Saraki described agriculture as the most important activity for Nigerians and challenged other presidential contestants to showcase their plans for agriculture. “With farming and agriculture, all our people will be employed. In Kwara,we have began to produce up to 6000 litres of fresh milk daily. We can replicate that on rice and cassava and our country will be a productive rather than a consumer nation,if we can replicate that across the country, which I promise to do if elected”,he said.
