The Benin Ladies Open will roll off from October 22 through 24. Already, ladies at the Golf Section of the Club are jumping in ecstacy, rubbing knuckles like they did while Obama Campaign train was on the move. Reason? The Governor of the state, Comrade Oshiomhole is showing great signs he could be part of the event.

The Lady Captain of the Club, Lady Christie Iyabo Azugbene, is already joyous that the Governor has indicated interest in the event.  “Everybody in Edo knows Comrade Oshiomhole,” Azugbene said. “The man has no time for frivolities.

He takes up things on the merit. For us to get hints that he could back this event shows he has lady golfers across this nation at heart. I mean this is not an Edo affair. Some 250 lady golfers from the 65 golf courses across Nigeria will be here for the event and you know our Governor… he is a Nigerian first, then an original Edo man. He loves it that golfers across the nation will converge in his state”.

The Ladies Open, according to Azugbene will be dedicated to a belief the founder of Mary Slessor, an NGO of the first Lady of Cross Rivers, Obioma Liyel Imoke, that caters for widows, homeless and kids that have to homes to go to.
“I love what Madam Imoke is doing with her NGO”, Azugbene confessed.
