In line with its objective of rewarding creativity, the Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN), said it is coming back with it’s rested Poster Awards, as it sets October 2010 date.
The award which has 14 categories will include exhibition of products from practitioners from other African countries including Ghana, Morocco, Togo and Benin Republic and Nigeria in particular.
Speaking, Chief Terry Otuya, Chairman, Business Relations Committee said at a press conference in Lagos that the coming back of the Award is a proclamation that the association is set to reclaim its leadership position in the Marketing Communications industry in Nigeria.
According to him, “As the Out-of-Home (OOH) medium bounces back to reclaim its leadership position in the Marketing Communication industry in Nigeria, a new face of the business is born. We call it the global standard street furniture. It is not any more run-of-the- mill billboards, but specially crafted pieces of modern day technology, giving the level of infrastructure especially regarding electricity.â€
The Committee chairman went further to say that as a result of its objective to reward creativity in the OOH advertising, he noted that the 2010 awards will be an improvement on its previous achievement by not only incorporating an exhibition segment, but also introducing an innovation of rewarding most innovative OOH company. Overall, he said that there are 14 categories to be contested for by 20th October, 2010 in Lagos.
Contributing, Kole Ademulegun, President of OAAN explained that entries are now open to both institutional and private participants, stressing that institutions include advertising agencies and advertisers who may not be using advertising agencies but may have materials to submit.
“Most importantly they have to be current consumers of the OOH medium,†as the association’s sponsorship platform is still open to individual and corporate orgainisations.
Ademulegun observed that for the company that sponsors a category, the organisation will have its name engraved on the plague, while the award bears the sponsors name for the period the organisation tends to sponsor the category.
