The former governor of Ekiti State, and leader of the Labour Party, LP, in the state, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has called on the youths to engage old politicians in political contest, even as he urged them to mobilise themselves to fight against electoral fraud.
Fayose made the charge while kick-starting the LP house-to-house campaign at Ikere Ekiti Thursday, where he inaugurated the Ikere Local Government chapter of the Labour Party Youth Vanguard.
The former governor enjoined the youths to be actively involved in politics and support members of their generation to rule the country irrespective of their religious background.
He urged them to be focused, resolute and distance themselves from the oppression of the irresponsible politicians that rigged to win election in the country. Mr. Fayose urged the youths to resist any attempt by any politician to relegate them in politics
Fayose asked the youths to vote massively for the LP in 2011 , since according to him, his party had the best youth oriented programmes , saying “aligning with a party that has no respect for them and their future may be suicidalâ€
The former Governor advised the youths to always engage the old politicians in electoral contest, so that they could be regarded as forces to be reckoned with in the nation’s politics
His words “The youth is the pivot of politics and I believe you will not stay back and allow this privilege to be snatched from you by desperate and old politicians, who are bent on putting everybody on its kneel as long as they live. The youths must begin to act now and reclaim what is belong to them.
I belong to the generation of youth that is ready to make a change in a civilized and democratic means and absolutely nothing will make me depart from this step. ‘I will continue to speak for the youths at all levels not minding how difficult the situation isâ€, Fayose assured
