OWERRI—Five people have been confirmed dead while 10 others were badly injured in a ghastly road accident that occurred along the Okigwe-Umuahia segment of the ever busy Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway.
According to the Sector Commander, Imo State Command, Mr. Angus Ibezim, a Toyota Hiace commercial bus belonging to Abia Line Network with plate number XG 379 MUS, crashed into a Mack trailer, YA 356 KJA.
He blamed the crash on “route and speed violation†on the part of the Abia Line Network driver, adding that the victims were rushed to St. Anthony’s hospital, Obadu Road, Okigwe.
“I advise members of the public whose friends and relations travelled on Tuesday from Okigwe to Umuahia and have not returned to check the morgue of St. Anthony’s Hospital, Okigwe, where the deceased were deposited for identification and collection of their loved ones,†Ibezim pleaded.
