Monarch denies killing in community

PORT HARCOURT— MGBEDE community in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State,  has said that it was not true that the community had been deserted following a  recent disagreement among some youths in the area.  
Paramount Ruler of the community, Eze Ogbagu,  Mgbede HRH, Eze Chadick Ogor,  who addressed newsmen,  said there was no iota of truth in the claim, that residents of his community had fled the area for safety.

According to the Royal father,  there was actually a minor disagreement among some youths in the area but the timely intervention of the Police and authorities of the local government area saved the situation from degenerating  into violence.

According to him, to sustain the peace, Police had to intensify its vigilance and patrol until the tension generated by the disagreement among the youths died down.

He said with the heavy security presence in the area, everybody went about his normal business, noting that there was no time residents fled the area or ran into the bush for their dear lives as alleged.

He said nobody was killed or  sustained injuries during the disagreement among the youths, adding that peace had fully returned to the area.

“You can see that people are in the community, going about their normal business. So I don’t know where a national newspaper (name withheld) got its story from that the area has been deserted,” he said.
