Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) recently flagged off its 2010 Lagos International Trade Fair (LITF) prospectus.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the trade promotion board, Alhaji Remi Bello said this year’s fair comes with a lot of difference as the chamber is committed to ensuring added value in service delivery to exhibitors, visitors and stakeholders.
He disclosed that the all exhibitions will be held inside the halls except for banks and exhibitors with heavy equipments and that the chamber will have a customer care desk, where products that are verified to be substandard are reported to within 24 hours of purchase and must have receipts to show for it.
According to him, the fair will hold from the 5th to the 14th of November at the International trade fair complex, Lagos Badagry expressway, Lagos, and the theme of the fair for 2010 is “Promoting Business Confidence to Enhance Economic Recoveryâ€, a theme which he said was brought out of the chamber’s believe that for the economic prosperity, which is the ultimate aim of all economic activities, there must be conscious attempt at recovery from the meltdown and that the fair is to be used as a strategic tool in promoting business confidence, which is in no doubt at its lowest ebb, in enhancing the so much required recovery.
“The Chamber has learnt lessons from the experiences in the past years, and these lessons have translated to a fair that have gotten better with each successive year. Let me assure you that the 2010 edition will not be bereft of these benefitsâ€he said
Prince Julius Adelusi Adeluyi, the special guest of honour and presenter of the prospectus, urged corporate bodies in the manufacturing, tourism, agriculture, banking and finance, oil and gas, ICT, the entire spectrum of the SMEs and all foreign investors to take advantage of the fair to show case there products and services to the largest market in Africa, adding that the consistent patronage of the fair by local and foreign exhibitors clearly reflects the delivery of value by the organisers.
“The LITF is the biggest and the best in the country today and indeed in the West African sub-region is not a dispute. We do not expect anything less for this is the commercial nerve centre of the country, and indeed the hub of business in West Africa sub-region. I vouchsafe that participation in Lagos International Trade Fair is a good deal any day, you have every thing to gain and only your business worries to lose!†he said.
The President of LCCI, Otunba Femi Deru said over the years, the chamber has been able to build economic and commercial bridges between the local and international investors through the LITF and that they have broadened the horizon and scope of investment opportunities for exhibitors and visitors alike.
Furthermore, he said, Nigeria possesses numerous world standard products which deserves wide exposure and that some imported and new products which need to be brought to strategic market focus and prominence, the fair, he said, offers such exposures that could generate tremendous patronage and consumer loyalty for these products and organisations.
“As we strive to attract both Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and indigenous investment in our ailing economy, we must approach and do business in manners that will engender mutual confidence in our intentions, actions and policies. For our nation to be in the mainstream of the world economy, our economy must be driven by a mutually acceptable level of confidence both in the public and private sectorsâ€he stated.
Deru assures all teeming exhibitors and members of the public that the chamber has the firm support of the authorities for the staging of the fair at the trade fair complex.
