UGHELLI—Afiesere Elites Forum, AEF, has described as a prelude to anarchy, a recent report credited to the Urhobo Youth Congress, UYC, threatening to move to its ‘plan B,’ if the Delta State government fails to meet its demands.

Reacting to the publication in a statement in Ughelli, Delta State, the AEF said that the UYC was orchestrating a campaign of calumny against the state Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, interventionist agencies of the state,  Federal Government and oil companies in the area.

The Forum in the statement by its Chairman, Mr. Newton Evwerhuroma, said that the publication indicated that the UYC had lost touch with their community as its demand are “out right lies or a tissue of truth, that had already been overtaken by events.

“For instance, it is on record that the Afiesere Elite Forum caused a letter to be written to the Governor of the state and sought an audience with him. The Governor having listened to our plight graciously approved the renovation and rehabilitation of the said road by the State Direct Labour Agency, DLA, and ordered them to mobilize to site.”

Calling on the law enforcement agencies to investigate the activities of the UYC, the AEF vowed to use every legal means to bring the UYC to book in case of any break down of law and order in  Afiesere community.

According to the Forum, the communities were at liberty to demand for fair and equitable distribution of infrastructural facilities, assuring that it will not shirk from its responsibility of speaking to the government and other government agencies in seeing that what was due to the community get to it.

“Ordinarily one would have ignored that faceless group but it is a case of  the Biblical voice of Jacob but the hands of Esau at play, we are constrained to correct the wrong impression that must have been created in the minds of unsuspecting readers.

The community knows its demands and has been negotiating peacefully with government and its agencies and as such does not need an imposter to achieve its goals,” it added.
