‘Nigeria’s leadership has failed’

By Ehis Osajie

A group, A New Way Forward for Nigeria Movement, has taken a swipe at the nation’s political leadership over what it calls abysmal failure of the ruling class to fix Nigeria in spite of the nation’s abundant human and material resources. The group also wants Nigerians to use their votes to effect the changes Nigeria deserves.

While calling on Nigerians to unite against the excesses of politicians, the chairman of the group, Mr Kola Akingbade, a US based political activist, called on Nigerians to embrace the message of change which can only come to pass through the instrumentality of their votes, stating that voters’ card remains the only power the people have to change Nigeria.

He described the Yar’Adua administration as the worst in the nation’s history, adding that God deliberately made it so to give Nigerians reason to seek change.”

According to him “the level of corruption, unemployment, infrastructural decay, and electoral malpractices has assumed a dimension that calls for the unity of the masses against the current political structure. ” We demand and seek a change in our political structure. In order for Nigeria to be a great nation, Nigeria must be united. Nigeria must be a productive nation.”
