Apapa LG boss commends Army

LAGOS — Chairman, Apapa Local Government Area, Mr Ayodeji Joseph, has commended members of the Nigerian Army over what he described as a “cordial relationship” existing between the officers and men of the Nigerian Army and the civil populace in the area.

Ayodeji  spoke at  Tombola,  a social gathering organised by the Nigerian Nigerian Army School of Signals in Apapa, Lagos, with the aim of promoting social interaction among military officers and the civil populace.

The chairman said members of the Nigerian Army in Apapa had contributed immensely to the peace and harmonious relationship in the area and had continued to avail civilians platforms to relate cordially with them, especially through their monthly Tombola.

According to him, “I specially appreciate the fact that in there, you would not be able to differentiate between military officers and civilians because we all interacted as one. They have really contributed to this administration in terms of security in Apapa. They are always willing to assist us whenever there is the need.”

Speaking at the event which was also attended by Somolu and Oshodi Local Government Chairmen, Mr Gbolahan Bagostowe and Afeez Ipesa-Balogun, Chairman of the Tombola organising committee,  Lt.-Col. A. I.Adedigba, explained that Tombola was a monthly social function held in every military mess with the aim of promoting social interaction among military officers and the civil populace.

He said: “We have always strived towards maintaining a peaceful relationship with civilians. That is why you find that they constitute over seventy percent of the participants at this Tombola. This month’s Tombola was sponsored by the local government chairmen of Apapa, Oshodi and Somolu.”
