AC asks Edo govt to ignore Reps’ resolution on Assembly crisis

LAGOS—The Action Congress, AC, has urged the government and people of Edo State to ignore the House of Representatives’ resolution on recent political developments in the state, saying the resolution was in bad taste, grossly partisan, blatantly unfair and without due regard to the law of the House itself.

In a statement issued in Lagos, Sunday, by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the resolution is a wastage of taxpayers’ funds and should be ignored because it was passed after a similar motion on the issue of the suspension of two council chairmen was thrown out by the same House of Representatives a few days earlier.

It said no new details were included in the new motion that was eventually passed, noting that even some PDP members of the federal House pointed this out to the Speaker, who pointedly ignored their interventions.

AC described the ill-advised resolution as the dying kicks from an expired godfather, a desperate politician and a factional leader of PDP in Edo State who, having lost control of his party, leaned on the House of Representatives to pass the meaningless motion.
