Imo ANPP expels Ahamba

By Chidi Nkwopara

OWERRI—Imo State Chapter of All Nigeria Peoples’ party, ANPP, has announced the expulsion of Chief Mike Ahamba, SAN, for  alleged anti-party activities.

The State ANPP Chairman, Dr. Vitalis Ajumbe, who announced the expulsion while briefing newsmen in Owerri, also said that the party was particularly irked that Chief Ahamba went on air to announce that ANPP was dead in the state.

“Chief Ahamba went on air last week on Heartland FM radio programme, issues of the moment, to declare ANPP dead,” Imo ANPP boss said.

He said, “this latest anti-party activity of Mike Ahamba has been viewed seriously by the State Working Committee of our party and has therefore resolved in its meeting of February 8, 2010, to expel Chief Ahamba from ANPP with immediate effect,” Ajumbe said.

Chief Ajumbe also accused Ahamba of saying that he did not consider it necessary to formally resign from the party, as ANPP has no office address in Imo State.

“Imo State Chapter of ANPP is the most stable party in the state. The only party that has remained at one address for over eight years, the only political party that has no rift and no faction,” Ajumbe said.

Recalling that the State Executive Committee of ANPP on September 19, 2007, found Chief Ahamba and six others culpable for anti-party activities brought against them, Ajumbe also said that since  his suspension, Ahamba has been sponsoring meetings against the leadership of the party in the state.
