Jos crisis : Group faults NASS

By Emeka Mamah

KADUNA — the Plateau Patriotic Front, PPF, has accused some members of the National Assembly who are demanding the declara-tion of a state-of-emergency in the state following the latest wave of ethno-religious violence in the state, of having a hidden agenda.

The group said apart from being diversionary, the legislators, who it described as “ethnic chauvinists”, were bent on ruling the state from outside through yet another form of Jihad, adding however, that they will never achieve “their devilish aims as the people of the state will defend themselves with the last drop of their blood.”

Chairman of the PPF, Mr. James Gonung, in a statement made available to newsmen in Kaduna, yesterday, on the developments in the state, further accused some Northern governors of fueling the crises essentially to destabilise the Middle Belt region and the state in particular.

Gonung said that there had been a long standing plan by some elements to capture Plateau State by hook or crook, pointing out that the persistent crises that have continued to engulf the state were part of such plans.

He lamented that since the inception of this democratic dispensation, these elements, with their collaborators both at state and federal levels have continued to terrorise the people of Plateau.
