ABUJA—The Court of Appeal, Abuja will January 26, decide whether or not former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo would contest the scheduled February 6, 2010 gubernatorial election in
Anambra state on the platform of the rulling PDP.
The court fixed the date for the judgment yesterday after counsel in the matter adopted their briefs of argument.
Two aggrieved members of the PDP, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo and Mrs. Victoria Nwankwo are challenging the emergence of Soludo as PDP’s candidate for the election.
Nkoli Imoh and Ferdinand Okoye who had withdrawn their suit as appellants in the case had earlier joined the suit commenced by Valentine and Victoria as respondents.
Their action was, however, challenged by counsel to PDP, Olusola Oke and counsel to Soludo, Patrick Ikwueto, SAN, at all material times, including yesterday.
The lawyers claimed that the position taken by Imoh and Okoye on the issues before the court remained that of the appellants and not respondents as they tend to make the court believe.
