In history, something has always led to the other.
Profound political voyages are replete with astounding tales of incredulity, raw power-play, a spice of con, and ultimately, the emergence of a mortal who carves a niche for himself and leaves in his wake a judgment of history, perpetually resonating.

It takes a sincere person to own up officially to the fact that the election that brought him to power was flawed. But for the activities of the administration’s hardliners, the President has largely followed up with his pledge to introduce a reform to correct the lapses in our electoral system.

This morning, a South African broadcaster (who shall remain nameless) told me that when she heard that our President had signed the supplementary budget in Saudi Arabia, she was extremely skeptical and wondered whether he was really in a fit state to understand the contents or pick up a pen!

I bring you all warm greetings and best wishes for the New Year on behalf of our dear President, His Excellency, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. Although Mr. President has been away from us for sometime on account of a medical condition, he has maintained sustained interest and optimism regarding the various challenges, as well as the possibilities available to us as a nation.

There is little doubt that many patriotic Nigerians were greatly disappointed about the condition of the Nigerian situation last year. Many who have piously hoped for political stability got instead bickering and rumblings within the ruling parties. It was worse on the economic scene.
