THE intractable crisis rocking the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State continues to deepen as the party yesterday declared that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole was part of the problems and threatened to suspend or even expel him if he failed to retrace his steps.

The Lagos State Government has set up a visitation panel to look into the crisis rocking Lagos State University (LASU) just as the report of the 6-man committee of the State House of Assembly on the lingering crisis indicted the vice chancellor among other things, for contract splitting, violation of the N2 million approval limit, irregular appointment, discrepancy between the approved, budget and the figure being quoted by the university.

A MEETING between pro-chancellors and vice-chancellors of private universities and the Minister of Education, Dr. Sam Egwu, scheduled for Abuja today is expected to deliberate on the lingering issue of allowing private universities to access the Education Trust Fund (ETF).

Governors Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State and Bukola Saraki of Kwara State who visited the President in Saudi Arabia, returned to the country, yesterday, and declared to their colleagues in the Governors’ Forum that President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who is undergoing treatment in a Saudi Arabian hospital for heart ailment, is responding well to treatment.
