Secondly, pretences that there was no coup cannot hold water. There is no evidence to prove that his removal by soldiers was a directive of the Supreme Court as no known order existed. This claim was made only after the coup. So in all probability, the so called order allegedly signed by a Supreme Court judge was an after-thought, a back-dated document.

AFTER several dithering the much expected winding processes of constitution amendment have started fully by the National Assembly. During Plenary Tuesday, the House of Representatives followed the Senate footstep; when it began its second reading of the bill seeking to amend the 1999 Constitution. On its part, the Senate had penultimate week gone through its second reading and subsequently referred the exercise to its committee. The Senate Committee is expected to commence sitting any moment from now.

What is worth considering now is whether it has been proved that Charles Obule withdrew his candidature as Deputy Governor according to law now section 187 sub-section 1 & 2 of the Electoral Act. It is clear that the petitioners did not prove before this tribunal that they have complied with all these statutory requirements. Form EC 4(b6) Exhibit P2 was clearly not submitted to the first respondent 120 days or earlier before the election as required by law.
