Former PDP scribe dumps Nnamani for Chime

By Tony Edike

ENUGU—FORMER National Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and supporter of Ebeano political family in Enugu State, Chief Bernard Eze has pitched tent with Governor Sullivan Chime’s political camp.

Eze, who made a surprised appearance at a solidarity rally held in honour of Governor Chime by the PDP Enugu West Senatorial Zone at Oji River recently, formally announced his decision to dump the Ebeano camp, which is loyal to the immediate past Governor, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, during a meeting at Obollo Afor, Udenu Local Government Area.

Eze told his Ebeano supporters and loyalists that he decided to switch camp because Governor Chime had reconciled with him, revealing that his reconciliation with Chime was made possible by the First Lady, Mrs. Turai Yar’Adua, shortly after her last official visit to the state, recently.

He said that the Governor had pleaded with him to dump Ebeano, which they formally belonged, and join hands with him to reposition PDP in Nsukka zone, ahead of the next general elections in the state, but that he gave a condition which the Governor must fulfill.

Eze was quoted by a participant at the meeting to have claimed that Mrs. Yar’Adua had after her visit to Enugu last month, summoned the Governor and himself to Abuja, where they both met and during the discussions, “Sullivan Chime had to go down on his knees to beg that I should work with him.”
