UGHELLI—THE two councillors representing the two Ogor wards in the Ughelli North local government area of Delta State, Messrs Lawrence Okpako and Obakpororo Onokpasa, have restated their readiness to attract developmental projects to the clan.
The duo spoke during a thank you visit to the people of the clan, following their election as councilors to represent the Ogor people in the local government council.
Assuring the people of the wards of adequate representation, they urged the people to give them the needed support in their quest to take the dividends of democracy to their doorsteps.
They promised not to betray the confidence reposed in them by the people, while also pledging that they would ensure that the clan got its fair share of the dividends of democracy from the council.
According to them, their priority was to make the two wards in the clan first among equals in the state and appealed to the people of the wards to sustain the prevailing peace in the wards.
Meanwhile, at least twenty members of the Democratic Peoples Paty, DPP decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Receiving the decampees, chairman of the PDP in the council area, Chief Alfred Onavwa, said the PDP was one big, united family that could accommodate every one of them and assured them that they would be carried along in the scheme of things in the party.
Onavwa held that the PDP was the only party in the country that could address the needs of the Nigerian masses, adding that the policies and programmes of the government in the state were people oriented.
He advised councillors across the country to strive to carry their constituents along.
